For my series project, I wanted to take pictures that were similar to Steven McCurry's photo of the Afghan Girl. In my pictures, I used high contrast and tried to make the colors pop. I used the same posture as the Afghan Girl and translated that picture with many other models and backgrounds. I made the model point therir shoulders facing the side/diagonal of me and made them turn their face to face me. My goal was to get their eyes focused into the lense. The first two pictures were testing the posture and the color balance, but then I noticed that the background was distracting the model. In the next photos, I put the model in front of backgrounds with a lot of texture, so the viewer can focus more on the model than the background.
Great photos Caleigh! The way you planned out your photos to be similar to the Afghan Girl was really well thought out. It was good how you had all of your models in the same position/angle. I also really liked the different of backgrounds you used, I think they really helped bring out the model. Maybe for your next set you can take your photos up a little closer to make the connection with the model's eyes stronger. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteNice work! I really like all of your photos. The eyes of each of the models really pull me in, which I think is exactly what you were trying to capture. The angle really helps with that! My favorite is the one of Sasha. Keep up the good work! For next week, I would say just keep the backgrounds simple and try not to overpower the model with the high contrast colors.
ReplyDeleteGreat work! I think you did a great job by trying to kind of recreate the photos of the Afghan Girl similar to the photographer you studied. Your photos are very intense because of the focus on the eyes staring directly into the camera. I think that you should use less bright colors for your background, since it can be distracting from the intended subject if your images. Great work!
ReplyDeleteCaleigh,
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with this weeks assignment. I can always count on your blog having great photos! Your worth with photoshop is great! Nice Job!
GReat job caleigh! i think you did really welll and achieved your goals. I like the backgrounds on most of them because they are simple and don't distract, but not on the first two. YOu could also try to have less blurry pictures like the one with tori in it
ReplyDeleteThese are a great set of photos Caleigh! I think that all your photos really portray Steven McCurry's photo of the Afghan girl. I like how your photos have a different background, some having brighter backgrounds and some having darker backgrounds. Great job!
ReplyDeleteCaleigh, your photos are really well posed. However I think it needs more brighter colours. Good Work.
